The Winter Season

Each season is gifted with beauty of its own, the light, the fragrance, purpose beyond our understanding. And yet we find ourselves filled with anticipation for each change. The familiar touches something of the essence our souls with reflections of past seasons. Images resoundingly stir the heart with glimpses of another time; these images seem connected with the present for a grander purpose, illumining something beyond what we can now see. This morning brings freezing rain, to be followed by sleet and snow. I see the pine boughs drooping under the weight of the ice and anticipate what it will look like when daylight arrives. We often find ourselves drooping or bending under the weights common to man, but when I lifting eyes heavenward, light begins to shine through to guide uncertain footsteps. I know that it is not the situations I face, but the way I am enabled to respond to them that changes the color of the day. The pearls of light begin to glimmer with awareness.
The Light is there. We have but to look. I am thankful dear Lord.

Majesty Of Each Day

Before the breaking forth of each fresh dawn
The majestic glory of its coming was long ago drawn
Every morning arrives gift wrapped and new
Filled with promise and a palette of light in every hue.
Distinctively displaying heavenly origins of art
Splendor and glory created in God’s own heart.
We may anticipate and respond to radiance of the light
Shining through His creation, showering us with delight
In the silence of the night it seems the soul does not sleep
It is listening, waiting to awaken us with divine appointments to keep.
A stirring in my inner being brings awareness of calming peace and rest
Gradually, steadily becoming the hope of being eternally blessed
The reverie is ended; I am awakened with an introit of song
My reflections are upon our merciful Lord to Whom all things belong.
Such music becomes an awakening chorus through nature to praise
The Lord of all the earth, author and artist of pathways and days.
The chorus becomes a prelude of welcome for dawn’s streaming light
Each day arrives with unique majesty, empowered with His ordering might.
Responding to the awakening call to slowly open my eyes
Then gasp in response to beauty proclaiming His glory across heavenly skies.
His Spirit dwells within me; He responds to my reaction of jubilant joy
Obedience unfolds witness to more of the fullness of His glory.
The undeniable majesty of Gods incomprehensible light
Reveals many beautiful facets, enrapturing my soul to take flight
Each day has abundant glory to inspire eyes of the heart to sing
Assurance of His presence forever, He is our Heavenly Lord and King.
An ever-moving canvas is providenced by clouds changing at His command
Brightly moving patterns of light flow from on high, carried on wings of the wind
Openings as windows of heaven remind me it is on God all things depend
Colors all glorious reveal the previousness of God to supply
Evidence of His faithfulness made known to my seeking cry.
God’s melody imprinted on my soul, stirs me with harmony in worship to extol.
An eternal melody, a pure melody, beginning within God’s heavenly throne
Carried by the breath of His Spirit as if a timeless wind has blown
Each day has been established in majesty as a variation on a theme
A new song emerges each day, yet the changeless theme reigns supreme.
All things flow from the powerful and righteous character of God’s name
Even though the world’s views are ever changing, His truth remains the same.
Each sunrise arrives at its perfectly ordained time
One with pomp and circumstance, another in quiet elegance sublime
Another morning may arrive cloaked in a rumbling storm
Flashes of lightening accompany a thunderous march with resounding form.
Oh to be ever watchful in filling my hunger for wisdom to impart
Ancient words ring true with what He has made known from the start. IMP 6/11/10
